Smartphones: like Apple, Samsung will move to 64-bit

Technology: After the announcement of the iPhone 5s and its new 64-bit SoC, Samsung has confirmed its intention to adopt this technology for the chip that will facilitate its future smartphones. Beyond the marketing hype, the benefit to users is far from clear.
If Apple thought hold a good head start on the competition with the new 64-bit system that his team was A7 chip architecture iPhone 5s , it should be of short duration. Samsung has confirmed yesterday when he planned to propose the same thing for its upcoming smartphones, likely the Galaxy S5 and Note 4.
And Samsung is not the only puisqu'Intel which this week unveiled its new Atom Z3000 SoC platform based on Bay Trail , has said it will release early 2014 Windows drivers that will allow its chips to manage instructions 64 -bits.
The 64-bit on a smartphone requires 4GB of RAM
Still, the benefits of 64-bit for a smartphone are probably not nearly jumping in the eyes of users .To take full advantage of these capabilities would require terminals carry at least 4 GB of RAM.The most powerful current smartphones display only 2GB and 4GB passage will not end before 2014 at best see much later. For who said memory also said higher energy consumption, and manufacturers already have great difficulty in combining power and autonomy.
It will also require that the mobile OS and applications use 64-bit, which again is not in the agenda. In short, many conditions that are ready to be filled. Currently, only iOS7 has been optimized for its 64-bit SoC Apple invites developers to update their applications. (Eureka Press)
